Hannon_Vanished final front coverInterview with the heroine from Vanished by Irene Hannon:

1.Moira, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I don’t know if this is interesting so much as unusual, but I have more than a passing acquaintance with ancient Greek philosophy, thanks to my professor father whose specialty is the classic thinkers. Need a pithy quote from Euripides, Aristotle, Socrates or Plato? I’m your girl!

2. What do you do for fun?

My job as an investigative reporter doesn’t leave me much free time, but I enjoy music, long walks…and going out for ice cream! Favorite flavor? Mint chocolate chip.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I’m not the putting-offer type. If something needs to be done, I just suck it up and do it.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Not much—which can be a plus in my investigative reporting work. However, that full-speed-ahead mentality has also gotten me into trouble on more than one occasion. The nasty scar on my arm is proof of that…though I can’t say it’s stopped me from jumping into danger with both feet.

5. What do you want out of life?

It may sound like a cliché, but I really want to make a positive difference in the world. I’ve always been a fighter for justice, and I try to use my investigative and writing skills to make this planet we call home a better place.

On a personal front, I’d love to find the right guy someday and create the kind of marriage my parents had. And to tell the truth, I’ve just met an intriguing cop-turned-PI named Cal who’s helping me sort through a very puzzling experience I had on a dark, rainy country road. So far, I like what I see in this guy. He’s got loads of integrity, seems absolutely trustworthy—and man, is he hot! Be still, my heart!

6. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I do a lot of research-type reading for my job, but when I read for pleasure I love a good romance novel. By that I mean one where the heroine is smart, spunky and independent and the guy is noble and well worth loving. Those kinds of stories give me hope that maybe, after one false start, I’ll find my own Mr. Right one of these days.

7. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Let’s see…should I start with the slightly-too-frizzy hair, or go with something more serious, like my propensity for risk-taking? Honestly, though, I figure God made me the way I am for a reason, so I’ve always tried to look upon my less-than-stellar qualities as challenges designed to make me a better person. Sometimes they do—and sometimes they just make me mad when I can’t lick them. Hmm. Come to think of it, maybe I better work on the whole patience thing.

8. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

No pet. I work long hours, and it wouldn’t be fair to keep a cuddly critter cooped up from dawn until dusk.

9.If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I must admit I’ve always been fascinated by the tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. I know the story is mostly myth, but I love the whole noble concept of might for right rather than might is right. I guess that’s why I became a crusader for justice through my reporting work.
