I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (December 9th) evening.

Interview with the heroine from Season of Joy by Virginia Carmichael:

1. Calista, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Well, I’m the CEO of VitaWow, the vitamin water company. (pause) That’s not very interesting, really. I thought it was, but I’ve realized it’s not quite what I want to be. I’d like to be more than just a ‘CEO’. I’m not exactly sure how it will happen, but stepping outside my comfort zone is the first big step.

2. What do you do for fun?

Fun? What’s that? Well, if I had to choose something, I’d say the other day when I got to lead the finger painting with the preschoolers at the homeless shelter. Wow! We had a great time! They haven’t invited me back yet. Not sure why…

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Oh, you know… exercising, getting the studded tires on the car, dusting… and maybe asking to help instead of giving orders. Being the boss is way easier for me than helping out where I’m needed.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

I used to be deathly afraid of being alone. And then it happened. It stinks. But I know why I’m alone and I’m working hard to change it.

5. What do you want out of life?

Some place to call home and people to call family.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Time. I can buy myself whatever I want, and I get a lot of ‘gifts’ from ‘friends’. But when someone gives me their time… I know they really like me.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I got out of the habit, no time. And then I realized that I was happier when I was reading something. I had to rediscover what I liked to read. Fun, fun! I love sweet YA, high octane thrillers with a low body count, accurate historical fiction, and political satire.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

One thing? I have a list… (rolls out a four foot sheet) Uhhh, since this is going on the internet and we all know that’s FOREVER, I’ll say that I tend to interrupt people. I hate that in myself.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Yes, my Siamese cat has been living with me for about two years. We’re not friends. She hates me. I call her Cruella DeVille when I’m feeling kind.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d like to meet St. Joan of Arc. Everybody thought she was crazy and she did what she was called to do. Fearless! I want to be like her.
