Interview with the hero of Deadly Trust  by Barbara Phinney (http://www.amazon.com/Deadly-Inspirational-Romantic-Suspense-ebook/dp/B005AX7Z64/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1340802572&sr=1-4&keywords=deadly+trust):

1. Brent Stirling, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I don’t consider myself interesting at all. I suppose it might be the fact I’ve done some covert ops for the military before. But to me, it’s a difficult part of me at the same time.

2.  What do you do for fun?

Fun? I don’t  do fun. I’m a divorced soldier who is recovering from an injury I received in Libya. I’m fighting for my career, too, especially since I met Anna LaBonte, whose own ‘fun’ is trying to clear her name from an accusation of murder. My fun is helping Anna, and getting well.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

It would have to be facing my supervisors and the meeting to decide the fate of my military career. I led a mission that I can’t discuss and when it went south and people died, the board of inquiry was a two-stage process. First, the inquiry on the accident, then the inquiry that would decide if my ‘services are still required’. I had to get well first, then let them know when I was well enough to face it. That’s what I was putting off.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Being useless. I mean, what good would I be if I was nothing but a useless body of scarred tissues, and traumatized soul. I mean, I have my faith in God, but it’s not easy. I ache outside, I hurt inside. How can I be of use to anyone, especially God, like this, and that scares me.

5.  What do you want out of life?

To be useful, to find someone who can love me with all these scars, and who I can love. Yeah, I may be a soldier, but I want to love and be loved.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

Well, beside God and what is starting with Anna? My career. I like helping people and serving my country.

7.  Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

I read a few books while lying in the hospital. I liked the action ones. Espionage, thrillers, mysteries. I like biographies, too.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

That’s a tough question? I mean, I have learned to trust God, but I sometimes think that if I’d been more compassionate, would I have learned what I did? Would I have ended up with Anna? I’m not sure and since I am not a gambler by nature, I don’t want to say that there would be anything I’d change. I don’t want to risk losing Anna.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I don’t have a pet, but I’m thinking a dog would be great. Some mutt like me. Now that’s sounds about right.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I don’t think I’ve ever thought about that. I’d like to try Roman times. I don’t know why. It sounds cool, that’s all.
