No One Is Immune to Bullying

Another testimony from someone who has bullied and how it affected her:

By a high school cheerleader (I know this author and she is beautiful–not who you would think would be bullied)

No one is immune to bullying. It’s something that can happen to anyone–boys and girls, the nerdy kid in third period, even the cheer captain. It’s a vicious cycle that affects thousands of innocent lives every year. Just for being different or just because someone just plain doesn’t like you. It can be anything from getting ignored, put down, being left out of a group, gossiped about, or embarrassed in front of your peers.

I’ve been through bullying my whole life and want to get my message out. Even changing one person’s life will make all the things I went through worth it. I was left out, talked about, embarrassed so many times by people I thought were my friends. I was harassed to the point where I had to drop out of high school and finish my senior year online. Now almost four years later after all of the hurt and tears, I have realized that I won’t let those bullies take my power.

The hate and rage I felt everyday that was hurting me did nothing to help.  It became like drinking poison expecting the other person to hurt, but the only person I was hurting was myself. I realized that I couldn’t let the bullies take my shine or sparkle and that everyone needs to know no matter how much it sucks now there is always something beautiful in your future to look forward to.  I now know not to let those bullies influence my life. Bullying is very upsetting, but one thing you have to remember is that you should always keep your emotions in check. You can’t help yourself if you’re not thinking rationally.
