Interview with the heroine: Avery Ann Hamilton from Saving Gideon by Amy Lillard:

 1. Avery, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

The most interesting thing? Hmm…I guess the most interesting thing would be that I can speak three languages: Spanish, German, and Mandarin.

2. What do you do for fun?

I spend a great deal of my time at benefits and galas both with and without my father. I honestly don’t get a lot of time to myself. When I do have time, I like to spend it with my friends, but lately it seems that we have less and less in common

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Telling my father that I can’t do something he needs from me. I hate it when he feels like I’ve failed him.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Being alone. Isn’t that everyone’s fear? I just want a husband and children, special someones to spend my life with.

5.  What do you want out of life?

What every girl wants: to be happy. I want to be married and a great guy who loves me for me and not my family’s money.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

That’s easy: family. My mother died when I was young and I cherish my relationship with my father. Though I wish we could be closer and understand each other better. Everything I do, I do for him.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I like to read all kinds of books, but lately I find myself submerged in cookbooks

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I was a stronger person. I would like to be able to stand up for myself against friend and foe. But all too often I bend to the needs of others.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I do have a pet, a Yorkie named Louie V. He’s small and can be taken with me everywhere I go. He’s my best friend and the one ‘man’ I know I can depend on.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

If I had a time machine, I think I would go back to the Old West and the time of the Texas Republic. I would love to see the men who made Texas into what it is today.
