Interview with the heroine from Sandwich with a Side of Romance by Krista Phillips:

1.  Maddie, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I’m not sure how interesting I am, really. I’d think I’d more call myself odd. I had a pretty rough childhood and was in a home for girls when I graduated high school, so I guess that’s different than most people.

Oh, and while I can do a pretty decent job at cutting people’s hair… NEVER ask me to carry a plate of food unless you’d like for your lunch to end up in your lap. You’ve been warned!

2.  What do you do for fun?

Hang out with my new friend, Allie! She pulls me along to garage sales, which isn’t my favorite, but she finds good deals and watching her go is absolutely hilarious.

Hanging at the Yum Yum Shoppe is another fun thing, but not good on my waistline! Reuben says I could stand to add a few pounds, but he’s a man, what does he know?

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Oh goodness. Anything that costs money!! I didn’t have a lot growing up, so I tend to be a scrooge when it comes to spending money.

That, and I always put off asking for help. I’d much rather figure things out on my own. Comes from growing up on the streets in Chicago. A girl has to fend for herself a lot.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Men. Hands down. They are all jerks, the whole lot of them.  My dad being chief of jerks.

Reuben is growing on me though. But shhhhh, don’t tell him!

5.  What do you want out of life?

Stability. Love. Acceptance. The ability to stand on my own two feet without having to rely on everyone else to keep me afloat.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

My little brother, Kyle. He’s the only family I have left. He’s my life, and I’d do anything for him.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

Not really. Just never really got into it, except for my Bible lately.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Honestly? I’d increase my bra size from a B to a D. I know, petty. I’d probably never have enough guts to do it. But it’s the truth.

Oh, and if they could stretch my legs a few inches, that’d be fabulous too!

On a less self-absorbed note, I guess I’d also want to change how I relate to people. I’m pretty jaded become of my past, and it makes it difficult sometimes to trust people.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

No! But I’d love that have a cute little dog. Something with curly hair that snuggles. A girl dog, of course.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d travel back to before my mom died. Back when life was happy and my dad was only a mild jerk. Yeah, I’d give anything to be able to hug my mom again!
