Interview with the heroine from Ricochet by Christy Barritt:

1.Molly Hamilton, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I’m a nurse. I wanted to be a medical missionary for a long time, but my mother became ill and there was no one else to take care of her. So I decide to forgo those plans, and I stayed local so I could be with her. I love helping people with physical wounds, as well as spiritual hurts, find healing.

2.  What do you do for fun?

I love kayaking, whitewater rafting, and anything else that requires being outside—except hiking. I got lost in the woods as a child and, since then, I always get chills when I’m in the forest.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Dishes. I bought disposable plates for a while just so I wouldn’t have to wash dishes! Don’t ask me why. I’ve always hated doing them, though.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

I’m often afraid of disappointing people, but God’s working me through that and helping me to realize that I just need to worry about not disappointing him.

5.  What do you want out of life?

I want to make a difference in people’s lives. I do that as a nurse, but I also want to help point people to God whenever I can. He’s the one true healer.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

Honestly, I just want to be the person God created me to be. I don’t say that so I could super spiritual because I’m not. I’m just a woman who’s on a journey, and I want to make sure I take the right path. Right now, I’ve been led to be a nurse at a Christian summer camp. I know all about summer camp, and I know it’s a place where lives can be changed. That’s why I’m so excited to be here. I only wish these creepy things would stop happening. And that the man who broke my heart wasn’t here unexpectedly as camp manager.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I love the classics, especially Jane Austen. But I also really enjoy just spending time reading God’s Word. It keeps me grounded in the storms of life.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I could be more trusting. It seems like everyone I’ve trusted throughout the years has let me down.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I worked such long hours as a nurse that I decided having a pet wasn’t a good idea. If I did have a pet, it would be a golden retriever. I love how loyal dogs are.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I would go back to that week of summer camp I attended as a teen. It was the best week of my life, and really helped me to clearly see what I wanted to do with my life. It brought me closer to God and re-ignited my passion for him.
