Interview with the heroine from Christmas at Holly Hill by Martha Rogers:
1. Tell us about yourself.
Hi, my name is Merry Lee Warner. One of the most interesting things about me is that I was born the day after Christmas so I was named Merry because I made my mother’s Christmas so happy. You might also be interested to know my father is a former U.S. Marshal, but now helps my mother and grandmother run Holly Hill Home for Children.
2. What do you do for fun?
For fun I like to visit with my friends. We’ve just moved back to Prairie Grove after being gone a number of years and it’s fun to be with my friends from school once again.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
There’s nothing I really “dread” doing, but I do sometimes shirk on my duties at home and use the excuse of work at school to keep me from it.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
I’m most afraid of never marrying and having a family. At age twenty-three, I am older than most of the eligible men in our town, or they are way too old for me.
5. What do you want out of life?
If the Lord doesn’t plan for me to marry, I want to be the very best teacher I can be and set an example of Jesus’ love in my students as well as a love of learning.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
Right now my family is most important to me. We have eight children living at the home and they are all family and very important.
7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?
I like to read the stories like Jane Eyre and Little Women.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would like to be of a lady. I was a young girl who liked to climb trees and do things boys liked to do. Now I try to be a lady so I can be an example to my young students. It’s hard.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
We don’t have a pet as such, but if we did, I’d want a Collie so I’d have an excuse to be outdoors more.
10 If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I love teaching history to my students and would love to travel back to the days just after the American Revolution when our country was just getting on her feet.

One thing I really love about Holly Hill is the surprise return of Jake and Lucy from Becoming Lucy. They have a wonderful reason for coming to Prairie Grove and Holly Hill Home for Children at Christmas.

Christmas is my favorite time of year, not only because of the wonderful reason for the season, but because of how everyone has a great spirit—-even those who unfortunatley don’t believe in our Saviour.
Merry sounds like a sweet character – I’d like to get to know her better. I have a fondness for Little Women and Jane Eyre.

Oh how I would love this Christmas book. I love those kinds of books. I visited an Orphaned Home once as a young girl. Was sad that they didn’t have their own homes with loving parents like me. Please enter me.
