This week I’m hosting  with Diane Burke with Silent Witness, Renee Ryan with Charity House Courtship, Jennifer Fromke with A Familiar Shore (if winner lives outside of US the book will be an ebook), and Cara Lynn James with A Path Toward Love. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (August 19th) evening.

Interview with the hero from A Familiar Shore by Jennifer Fromke:

1. (Popsie, aka Guy Marks), tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Well, let me see here. I’m not sure it’s all that interesting, but some folks seem to think it’s odd that I live on my boat. Always loved the water. Lake, ocean, river, all of it. When I adopted Meg, it seemed like the best place for us to settle in and get to know each other. We lived everywhere and nowhere at the same time. But no matter where we tied up for the night, we always felt at home on Gilda.

Come to think of it, I guess it’s sorta interesting that I adopted a little girl as a single, fifty-something man. She lit up the second half of my life just when I thought everything would fade to black.

2.  What do you do for fun?

Get out on the water. In the dinghy, or sometimes I even like to paddle around, standing up on an old surfboard. Or else we take Gilda out – the best part is pointing the bow out to sea and heading toward the horizon with nothing between us and the far edge of the world.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Righting my wrongs. And no, I don’t really want to discuss it with you.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Losing the faith my little girl placed in me. She’s all I have left now, and once she figures everything out, I’m not sure I’ll ever see her again.

5.  What do you want out of life?

Seems like I’ve just about wrung all I’m going to get out of this life. Eighty plus years is a long time, and I’m starting to feel it. The last thing on my list is to make sure I get the whole truth out for Meggie. She needs to know it before I go.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

Right now? Meg.

7.  Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

I like a good swashbuckler. Sword fights and ships and international intrigue pre-1900. Meg and I still read them out loud when we’re together.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d have better sight. I wish I’d looked at my kids with my heart more and less with my head. Sigh.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Kinda hard to keep a dog on a boat. People do it, but I love my boat too much.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d go back to that year . . . the one I call the year of bad decisions. The year Rachel died. The year I was swamped in grief. The year I did the kids wrong and ruined everything. 1988.
