This week I’m hosting Valerie Hansen with Threat of Darkness, Ann Lee Miller with Kicking Eternity  (see note under the heroine interview), Beth Vogt with Wish You Were Here, and Jennifer Slattery with an opportunity to help charity.  If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (June 10th) evening.

Interview with the heroine from Threat of Darkness by Valerie Hansen:

1. Samantha Rochard, RN, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Interesting? I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you about the CASA program. That stands for “Court Appointed Special Advocates” for children. As a volunteer I often have the chance to help the helpless, which is another reason why I went into nursing in the first place.

2.  What do you do for fun?

I work. Hard. Not all the time, of course, but I get great pleasure and a sense of accomplishment from my career.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I wish I could say that I never postpone things but I guess I do.  One thing I do hate is having to admit I may have been wrong about something. J

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

Do I have to answer that? Well, okay. I may have a few trust issues. Ask the man who left me high and dry years ago. John Waltham will be glad to tell you all about that.

5.  What do you want out of life?

There was a time when I thought I could only find happiness if John and I remained a couple. Then he left Serenity and I had to choose whether to sit around feeling sorry for myself or find joy in another part of my life. I did that via my job and volunteering – until that man showed up back in town.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

Finally, an easy question. I try to keep my eyes on what I think God wants of me. As long as I manage to do that I’m usually pretty happy. It’s when I lose focus that my life gets terribly complicated. Of course, falling in love with the wrong man can do that to you.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

Oooh, I love a good mystery. At least I did, until my personal life started to rival any twisted plot I may have read. If I could tell the good guys from the bad guys it would sure help!

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Me? Change? Perish the thought. If I agreed I needed to change that would mean I’d have to admit I don’t have all the answers to life’s toughest questions and then where would I be?

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Oh, dear. My poor Brutus is such a sweetheart. We sort of rescued each other, you know. I was floundering in my teen years but I knew right from wrong and when I saw that horrible man abusing that poor little puppy I couldn’t help myself. I stole it. Yes, I did. And Brutus has protected me ever since. Of course I had no idea he’d grow up to be the size of a pony! Now that he’s elderly we’re still the best of pals. When someone wanted to get to me they knew how – through my best pal, Brutus.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

That’s an easy question, too, as long as I still knew what I know now. I was too immature to really understand how love is a give-and-take proposition when I was younger. If I could go back to those confusing days in my teens I like to think I’d do things differently.
