Interview with the heroine of Living in Harmony by Mary Ellis:

1.Amy King, tell me the most interesting thing about you. I have secretly tracked down a woman who vanished from her family and community many years ago. I discovered a quilt she had made.

2.  What do you do for fun? I take buggy rides to the lake, and stop for lunch, and sit on the porch swing, watching the seasons change. I enjoy a slow-paced life.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it? Looking at houses and farms to buy with my fiancé. Although I love him, I’m not ready to make any major changes until I straighten out a few conundrums.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life? I’m afraid I will end up shunned like my aunt, my mother’s favorite sister. She was forced to make some difficult decisions, those which put her at odds with her conservative Amish district.

5.  What do you want out of life? I want to fit in in my new community, which is very different from Lancaster County where I grew up. I want to be a good wife to John and create a happy home.

6.  What is the most important thing to you? After the Lord, my family is most important, which includes my fiancé, John, and my three sisters. And I want to restore my aunt to the Christian fold.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read? I love to read. Besides the Bible, I read sweet romances and cozy mysteries. Nothing is better on cold nights sitting by the fire, or warm afternoons rocking on the porch.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I will I could be more satisfied with each day of my life, instead of always wishing for something different. God has our future in His capable hands, so all we need to do is trust.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet? I don’t have a pet right now since we’re living as guests in someone else’s home. But once John and I marry, I intend to adopt a dog and a cat, and maybe even a rabbit or two.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I would travel back to the time before my parents were killed in a fire. I miss them so much. Everything has changed for my sisters and me. I would almost give anything to have them back.
