Robin Lee Hatcher

In the scavenger hunt I got the privilege of hosting the award winning, talented Robin Lee Hatcher. She is featuring Heart of Gold.

Blurb of Heart of Gold:

Back in her beloved Virginia, Shannon Adair loved nursing injured soldiers back to health. But in Grand Coeur, Idaho-the rough-and-tumble place where her father has been called to lead the church-she’s not sure where she fits in. Then a critically ill woman arrives, and Shannon knows her place at last: to care for this dear woman and ease her pain. Matthew Dubois is the fastest and most reliable stagecoach driver on Wells Fargo’s payroll. But his widowed sister is dying and he’s about to inherit his young nephew. So he takes a job at the Wells Fargo express office in Grand Coeur until he can find the one thing he needs to get back to driving: a wife to care for the boy. What neither of them knows is that God is at work behind the scenes-and is lovingly bringing them together to discover the true desires of their hearts.

A Scavenger Hunt Exclusive by Robin:

I love writing about my home state of Idaho. It is an amazing place, especially if you love mountains, roaring rivers, big skies, wild animals, and so much more. And yet so many readers don’t know anything about Idaho. So I try to allow readers to catch a glimpse of the places I love.

Did you know that Shoshone Falls (in south central Idaho) is higher than Niagara Falls? Did you know that the deepest river gorge in North America is on the Snake River in Idaho (bordered on the other side by Oregon)? Did you know that Idaho, the 13th largest state, has more wilderness area than any of the other lower 48 states? Did you know that Idaho produces 72 types of precious and semi-precious stones, some that can be found nowhere else in the world? Did you know that more gold came out of the Boise Basin than out of either the California 49er or the Klondike/Alaska gold rushes?

It’s the Boise Basin gold rush that forms the backdrop for Heart of Gold. Little wonder since I have spent many a day in my life, tramping around Idaho City, once the largest city in the Northwest. I have seen some of the original sluices from the 1860’s in those mountains. I have ridden horses along trails that drop off into nowhere and felt the utter aloneness men and women from years ago must have felt. I have imagined stagecoaches thundering along the road that twists and turns above creeks and rivers and almost tasted the dust on my tongue (not to mention feeling pain in my back in empathy for the passengers who rode inside those coaches).

I hope you’ll visit Idaho’s gold rush with me, as seen through the eyes of my hero and heroine. Heart of Gold is set in the fictional town of Grand Coeur, a town based on Idaho City and other gold rush towns in the Boise Basin. Who knows what you may find to love about this wild, unruly place?

You can pick up a copy of Robin’s book at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, ChristianBook.com or at your local bookstore. Find out more about this author at Robin Lee Hatcher’s website.
