Interview with the heroine from Journey’s End by Dora Hiers:
1. Chelsea Hammond, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I just found a teenager hiding in my barn. Not making out, but actually hiding. The cowering in a stall, brandishing a pitchfork, kind of hiding. But I sure wasn’t expecting it to be Jake Carpocelli, the son of my husband’s murderer.
<Sigh.> Just when my dream of opening Journey’s End, a shelter for troubled teens, was about to become a reality. But, I have to help Jake. He’s frightened and innocent, and just a teenager. Isn’t that what Journey’s End is all about? Helping teens? That’s what I keep telling myself anyway. Especially now that Deputy U.S. Marshal Trey Colten has arrived.
2. What do you do for fun?
Besides hanging out with teenagers? Let’s see, I enjoy creating scrumptious desserts and watching car races.
3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
Balancing my checkbook.
4. What are you afraid of most in life?
Falling in love with another law enforcement officer. And spiders.
5. What do you want out of life?
Motherhood and a full house.
6. What is the most important thing to you?
At the moment? Getting rid of the marshal hanging out at my house. Trey showed up shortly after Jake, and I can’t open Journey’s End until he leaves. Trey claims his job is to protect me. Hah! I don’t need his protection. And although I may be ready for another relationship, especially with a guy who helps with the dishes and feeds my animals, it won’t be with another law enforcement officer.
7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?
I read my Bible and the newspaper every morning. Other than that, I don’t read for pleasure. I’d rather bake or play my guitar.
8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Hmmm…just one thing? Ouch. It’s a toss up between taming my wild hair and shedding a few pounds.
9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
A pet? As in singular? Who has just one pet? At last count, five squawking ducks, one motherless fawn, two horses, and a wounded Labrador Retriever called Journey’s End home. Lost, hurting souls seem to find their way to Journey’s End.
10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
Just a few weeks. Before I signed the papers to be a teen shelter. Before Jake and Trey. Truth hurts, doesn’t it?
I love to read any chance I get and I have 2 cats, 1 dog, 1 crab, a husband and 4 boys. 🙂

Dora’s book is a real winner, friends! Great, fun interview here. I’m just getting impatient waiting for the next one. Of course, I’m partial to the name Chelsea (the name of my second daughter and middle child). I loved Dora’s characterization, realistic dialogue and page-turning plot (humor and wonderful romance included). Everything you can want in an involving, well-write romantic suspense novel! That’s it for my mini-review. Read it, and you’ll see what I mean! Many blessings.
