This week I’m hosting Cara Putman and Gina Conroy with Cherry Blossom Capers  and Ava Pennington with One Year Alone with God. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (January 8th) evening.

Interview with the heroine from Dying for Love from Cherry Blossom Capers:

1. Ciara, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

Hmm, I struggle to think of myself as too interesting. But I landed a key clerkship after law school. If you haven’t been to law school, that might not sound so interesting, but the slots are few and the competition fierce to land one. The fact that I fell in love with my fellow clerk…well, you can decide if that’s interesting.

2.  What do you do for fun?

I like to hang out with a few of my neighbors. The gals and I get together at least once a month to watch classic movies. Tara brings new recipes she wants to test on us before offering them at the White House. And on occasion Susan will try out a new scone or cookie recipe. Since I burn popcorn in my microwave, I leave the snacks to them.

 3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Relaxing. When I slow down, my thoughts catch up with me. Then I wonder if I’ve made the right choices. Should I have slowed down, so I had time to find love? Or am I doing the right thing by pouring my life into helping women through the challenges of a divorce?

 4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

I’m afraid that life will pass me by. That someday I’ll wake up and realize that my best days are behind me and as one of my classic movie characters said (Donald O’Conner in White Christmas) that When what’s left of me gets around to what’s left to be gotten, what’s left to be gotten won’t be worth getting, whatever it is I’ve got left.

5.  What do you want out of life?

I want to change the world. To pour myself into others through serving them. Right now that means by walking alongside women who are going through a terrible life change. Their marriages have failed and they’re trying to pick up the pieces. Watching that process has made me even more committed to waiting for the right man that I can commit the rest of my life to.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

 Serving God by serving others.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I love to read! It’s a great escape from the stress of my day job. I love reading novels because I can slip away from the real world – and if it’s a legal thriller or suspense, all the better…unless there’s a legal mistake in it!

 8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d be more patient with others and myself. I tend to be able to analyze information quickly and I expect others to do the same. When they don’t, I tend to let my annoyance show.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I wish, but my lifestyle wouldn’t work well with a pet. My hours are long and erratic, so I come home to a dark house. Sounds depressing! But I live in a neighborhood with great people who look out for each other.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I would travel back to World War II so I could be part of the greatest generation. Tom Brokaw might have coined the term…but it fits. To be part of a group of people all sacrificing for the greater good is really appealing. And I know I’d find a way to break down a barrier or two along the way .
