The drawings end Sunday (December 25th) evening.

Hero Interview from The Christmas Witness by Susan Sleeman:

1.  Reid Morgan, tell me the most interesting thing about you. I run a resort right now, but at one time I was an FBI agent working on the elite Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team. It was hard to see so many children abducted, but there was nothing more special than when we brought home a missing child and reunited them with their parents.

2.  What do you do for fun? All my real fun times are with my daughter Jessie. She’s ten and I figure I only have a few more years before she becomes one of those teenage girls with no time for her father. So I’m enjoying it by hiking, bowling, miniature golfing, skiing, and just playing games while I can.

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it? I hate doing paperwork at the resort. Even talking about it gives me the creeps so let’s move on.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life? My wife died from cancer. It was awful seeing her go through all the treatments and the struggles. Seeing my daughter suffer as she watched her mom lose her life. So I’m afraid of seeing someone I love going through that again. I can’t do that again. I just can’t.

5.  What do you want out of life? Happiness, pure and simple happiness. And to me that means, a loving wife, children, my brothers and their wives near by along with my parents and of course, it also means a relationship with God.

6.  What is the most important thing to you? My daughter Jessie is important to me, but I don’t think about her as a thing. So I guess my faith would be the thing. I’d never make it through a day without God.

7.  Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book? Oh, yeah, I read. I love thrillers. Guess that’s the FBI agent in me coming out, but I love to see the bad guys get it in the end.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Maybe being more content managing the family resort. I quit my job at the FBI when my wife got sick so I could be with her and with Jessie. I love being close to Jessie and I don’t want to jeopardize that, but I really miss being an agent. Hopefully someday it’ll work out in our lives for me to go back to that job.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet? Jessie has a dog named Bandit. We got him as a puppy after Jessie’s mom died and a neighbor’s dog that she loved was killed in a fire. I wasn’t keen on the idea, but let me tell you, it has been the best thing for Jessie. She trained him to be a therapy dog and takes him to visit children in the hospital who are ill with cancer. That’s my Jessie. Finding a way to take the loss of her mother and make something good out of it.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why? I’d like to go back to the time when my great-granddad built the family resort I now manage. I’d like to talk with him to see his vision for the resort and see if I’m following through on what he would want for the place.
