This week I’m hosting DiAnn Mills with Attracted to Fire, Richard Mabry with Lethal Remedy, Darlene Franklin with Lone Star Trail and Martha Rogers with Autumn Song. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (October 9th) evening.

Interview with the heroine from Attracted to Fire by DiAnn Mills:

Meghan Connors, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

My passion for my career as a Secret Service agent. This is mostly a male thing. Women need to prove themselves, that they are in this for the long haul.

What do you do for fun?

Horseback riding! I grew up in West Texas with horses, and it’s so stimulating. I’m a kid again, racing across an open field. It’s like flying!

What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Phone calls. I’m so busy during my work hours that when it’s time to dive into my personal life, I put up barriers. I simply want to be alone. Not good, and it makes me look rude and uncaring.

What are you afraid of most in life?

Facing the demons of the past. Not sure I ever dealt appropriately with my dad’s shooting.

What do you want out of life?

I want to be on the Secret Service Presidential Team, protecting the leader of the greatest country on earth.

What is the most important thing to you?

My faith in God and second is my purpose in life: to keep my protectee safe. It’s important to me to form a relationship with my protectee so he/she has no doubts that I would give my life. I know that’s our job, but knowing, really knowing, my protectee is important to me.

Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

Other than my Bible, I like suspense. Credible, unexpected, thrill-riding suspense. I read general market and Christian novels. But I do draw the line when the writer insists on cursing, has explicit sex, or glorifies violence.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’m such a Type A personality. Hard to relax. So maybe a way that I could calm down and sleep when I need to. Understand I have to be on alert mode when I’m working, and it’s nearly impossible to stop my racing thoughts to sleep.

Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I’m sorry but I don’t. I really don’t have time to care for a pet with my job. It wouldn’t be fair to the animal. But if I did have a pet, it would be a golden retriever. And I’d call her Harriett.

If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I’d like to have lived in Ireland when St. Patrick arrived and witness him spread the love of God. I want to relive those days through the eyes of a woman who became a believer. I’d also like to find out what is fact or legend about St. Patrick.

  1. It’s very true that women often do need to prove themselves. It can be a male thing.

  2. I’ve read some of DiAnn’s books are they are great. Can’t wait to read “Attracted by Fire”.

  3. Sounds like a very interesting character. I’m in a male dominated field as well (engineering) so I know a little about that. Although they’re nothing alike of course. I would love to read this book.

  4. It is a man’s world out there, but I’d like to strike a balance between male and female roles. No reverse discrimination, which I am finding in some avenues. I truly enjoy DiAnn Mills books. Please enter me.
