This week I’m hosting DiAnn Mills with Attracted to Fire, Richard Mabry with Lethal Remedy, Darlene Franklin with Lone Star Trail and Martha Rogers with Autumn Song. If you want to enter the drawings for the books, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (October 9th) evening.

Interview with the hero from Lone Star Trail by Darlene Franklin:

 1. Jud, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I don’t know that I’m all that interesting. I stay busy taking care of my Ma and my sister and running our ranch. We raise Morgan horses. You might like to know that we’re distant relatives of Justin Morgan, the man who developed the Morgan breed.

2. What do you do for fun?

There’s nothing like a good run on J.M.’s back to clear my head. J.M. is my horse, named after the fellow Justin Morgan that I mentioned earlier.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I don’t like trying to reason with my ma. She’s always spouting Scripture at me.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

I’m afraid of failing to protect the things God has put under my care. That’s one of the reasons why my little sister Billie’s capture by the Comanche year hit me so hard.

5. What do you want out of life?

Now that Marion and Calder are grown and marrying off, I hope I get to do something for me. Part of me wonders if it’s too late to have a family of my own and another part of me wonders if I want to start all over again with a family.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Making my parents’ dream for a successful horse ranch in Texas come true.

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

Aside from the Bible, I don’t read much.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I don’t understand how women think. But does any man? But since I’m surrounded by my ma and my sister and lately Wande Fleischer, I wish I understood them better.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

We have a cat named Marmalade, but the women folk make a bigger fuss over him than I do.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I would go back as the man I am now and fight by my father’s side during the war for independence from Mexico. Maybe I could keep him from getting killed.
