Heroine Interview from Wings of a Dream by Anne Mateer:

1.Rebekah, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I have a bit of a daredevil streak. I’d like to learn to drive a car, travel to Europe, even ride in an airplane one day.

2.  What do you do for fun?

Fun is a hard thing to find in a small farming town with a war going on in Europe. Oh there’s the occasional house dance or church social, but those become tedious after a lifetime with the same people. Until Arthur Samson arrived, this is. Such a dashing man. And an aviator! Maybe I will find some fun after all!

3.  What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Laundry. Out in the yard, boiling the water, washing and rinsing the clothes, running them through the ringer then hanging them on the line. I especially hate doing the bedding.

4.  What are you afraid of most in life?

I’m most afraid that my life will always be the same, without variation.

5. What do you want out of life?

Adventure. Excitement. Change. A larger existence than what I’ve always known.

6.  What is the most important thing to you?

Finding the man who will take me away from the mundane and into the wider world.

7.  Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I’ve read the Bible, of course. And lots of novels. But only the ones Mama considered appropriate.

8.  If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I was more apt to think before speaking or acting. Sometimes my rashness gets me into trouble.

9.  Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Lots of farm animals, but no real pets. Barn cats don’t count.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I wouldn’t go back in time, I’d go forward! I’d love to see what kind of exciting changes are in store for the future!
