Hero Interview from The Wedding Kiss by Hannah Alexander:

Interview with the hero:

Elam, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I have a way with horses. They automatically trust me, and I never have any trouble saddle-training a colt. One thing I love about Keara McBride is her ease with animals of all kinds.

What do you do for fun?

I spend time with my family, host a barbeque at my house or go riding.

What do you put off doing because you dread it?

I hate to break bad news to Keara, so I wait until the last minute, and then she gets mad at me for not telling her sooner. Gotta love that gal.

What are you afraid of most in life?

I’ve lost one wife. I don’t believe I could bear to lose another.

What do you want out of life?

I want to raise my children right, make a difference in the lives of those around me, and make Keara McBride happy for the rest of her long life.

What is the most important thing to you?

To live with integrity so that when it’s time to face my Maker, I won’t be ashamed.

Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

I’ve always got some kind of book or other in my chair. Most of them are about horses, some are Bible studies. I even like to read a novel now and again. I might even write one someday, once I get my children raised.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d be a firmer father. Sometimes my little ones can charm me out of disciplining them.

Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I have all kinds of pets, and they’re all out in the corral. I think I’d like to get a pup for the children, maybe rescue one of the strays out on the streets of Eureka Springs. I hate to see any animal or human lost and hungry.

If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I believe I’d like to go back to the day Keara McBride asked me to marry her. This time my reaction would be a whole lot different. And just maybe I’d be the one asking.
