Heroine Interview from Always the Wedding Planner Never the Bride by Sandra Bricker:

Interview with the heroine:

Sherilyn, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I don’t know how “interesting” I am…but I have a wonderful, adventure of a job! I’m a wedding planner, and I’ve just accepted a position at a wedding destination hotel where my best friend from college works as the pastry chef.

What do you do for fun?

Fun. Hmmm. I’m all about my work mostly, and I don’t really have time to invest in having fun. Every now and then, my fiancé gets his fill of that though, and he’ll plan something really unexpected, like ice skating or a barbecue with our friends. I think it’s Andy’s way of forcing me to remember that there’s more to life than running the details of other people’s lives.

What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Exercising. I have a weakness for food. Sweets…well, chocolate…in particular. I just can’t understand the joy Emma seems to find in things like running…and kick boxing! Is she kidding? But I guess that’s why she glides when she walks, and I waddle slightly, right?

What are you afraid of most in life?

Not being…enough.

What do you want out of life?

Connection with others. I don’t have any family ties of my own, so I’ve had to find them out in the world, like with Emma and Andy. Watching others operate inside a normal family structure is often like observing life in the wild. It’s foreign to me.

What is the most important thing to you?

Making a new life with the man of my dreams. I barely knew Andy when he proposed, but I knew we belonged together. I can hardly wait to get to the Happily Ever After part!

Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I don’t have a lot of time to read these days. But I was voracious in college. I couldn’t get enough of biographies and fictional stories of people overcoming great obstacles. But if you want to know the truth, I adore coffee table books. You know the kind. Big glossy pages bound in leather, the kind that show really beautiful centerpieces and landscapes and galleries. I just adore orderly aesthetics. Oh, they just take my breath away.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I suppose I’d want to be a little more like Emma. She’s disciplined in a purely casual way. I don’t know how she does it, but she’s mastered it.

Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?Well, I certainly wouldn’t call Henry MY pet! He is a massive Old English Sheepdog, probably a hundred pounds or more. When Andy and I toured the house we ended up purchasing, Henry was in the back yard, covered in mud, all matted and ugly and homeless, and he took to Andy like nuts on a sundae. If you think Andy fell in love with me quickly, you should have seen him and Henry! It was pure animal attraction on both sides, and that dog is the bane of my existence. But he makes Andy happy, so…

If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I would go back just a few hours so that I could snag a little more sleep before I hit the ground running!
