This week I’m hosting Camy Tang with Formula for Danger, Kay Strom with The Voyage of Promise and Martha Rogers with Finding Becky. If you want to enter the drawings, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (September 19th) evening.

Interview with Martha Rogers:

1. What made you start writing? I’ve been writing as long as I can remember putting pencil to paper making up stories.

2. How long have you been writing? When did you sell your first book? I wrote my first short stories in high school and a novel at age 17, but my first book wasn’t published until 2007.

3. How do you handle rejections? Horribly at first. I have a file folder full of them in my desk as well as another file on the computer. Now I look at them as learning experiences to help me write the story better for the next editor.

4. Why do you write? It’s what I do. The Lord gave me stories to tell and I write them to bring honor and glory to Him.

5. What would you be doing with your free time if you weren’t writing? Scrapbooking and playing with my grandchildren

6. What are you working on right now? Book 1 of my new series, Seasons of the Heart. Book 1 will be out next spring.

7. Do you put yourself into your books/characters? In some of them I do. It depends on the character.

8. Tell us about the book you have out right now. Finding Becky was the most fun of the series to write. Becky is a free-spirited young woman fresh out of college and ready to change the world for women in her home town.

9. Do you have any advice for other writers? Keep writing, pray a lot, have patience and persevere. Attend as many conferences as you can afford and soak up all the learning you can.

10. How important is faith in your books? Very important. I want my readers to see that God is faithful and loves us no matter how we may mess up our lives.

11. What themes do you like to write about? Reunion and reconciliation between people as well as reconciliation with God.

12. What is your favorite book you’ve written and why? Finding Becky has been my favorite so far.

13. What is your writing schedule like? I don’t really have a writing schedule. We are retired and with just the two of us at home, I can write whenever I want. It’s usually a couple of hours in the morning and the same in the afternoon and then an hour or two in the evening because I am a night owl and like writing at late hours.
