Interview with the heroine for Vanishing Act by Liz Johnson:

1. Nora, tell me the most interesting thing about you.
I changed my name to Danielle about a year and a half ago, and no one in my new city knows about my past or how my father was killed.

2. What do you do for fun?
I love to ride my bike around the small town of Crescent City, Colorado. Also, I enjoy swimming, which helps me relieve stress.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?
I put off speaking in front of groups as long as I can. I absolutely hate being the center of attention, and the only way to get me to speak up in public is if a friend really needs it.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?
I am terrified of the people who killed my father and has tracked me from Portland to Colorado. When they find me, I think I’m going to be killed.

5. What do you want out of life?
I want to be safe, and I want to be able to be in love—especially with Nate Andersen, the new client at the auto shop where I work.

6. What is the most important thing to you?
My faith in God is really important to me, but I’m having a hard time giving up my fear right now. Loyalty is also something that I really value.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?
I enjoy reading, but for the last year and a half I’ve been learning to be a mechanic, so the only books I’ve gotten to read are maintenance manuals. But if I had my choice, I’d read anything that helps me escape from my real life.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I want to be less fearful. I’ve been afraid of everything, including my shadow, for so long after seeing my father shot in an alley. And I’m tired of being afraid. I want to trust that God will protect me, but it’s been hard for me to do that.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?
I don’t have any pets because I have to be mobile, able to move at a moment’s notice. If someone came after me, I couldn’t put an innocent animal in danger, too.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?
I would go back to the day before I was kidnapped by the same people who killed my father. I would warn him about what was going to happen so that we’d both be safe.
