Heroine Interview from A Passion Denied

» Posted on Nov 5, 2009 in Blog | 36 comments

This week I’m hosting Myra Johnson with One Imperfect Christmas and Julie Lessman with A Passion Denied. If you want to enter the drawing for the book, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (Nov. 8th) evening.

Interview with the heroine from A Passion Denied by Julie Lessman:

1. Lizzie O’Connor (formerly known as Elizabeth or Beth), tell me the most interesting thing about you.

The most interesting thing about me is that I have been madly, undeniably and irrevocably in love with my brother-in-law’s business partner John Brady since I was thirteen. I’m almost eighteen now, but Brady (that’s what everybody calls him) refuses to see me as anything but a little sister. But I’ll let you in on a little secret—John Brady has NO idea, but he’s about to fall madly in love with me … that is, once my sisters and I figure out a plan to turn his head.

2. What do you do for fun?

Sigh … read romance, of course. And dream of John Brady.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Dating Tom Weston to make Brady jealous, like my sister, Charity, wants me to do. She calls Tom “Plan C,” which makes me really nervous because Tom Weston is a college boy who cornered me at Millie’s party last year. Brady says Tom is not a “gentleman,” which I can certainly attest to.

Plan A is trying to make Brady realize he’s attracted to me by getting him to kiss me while we’re talking on the front-porch swing, and let me tell you, I get warm goose bumps just thinking about that. Plan B is kissing Brady instead, which I have to admit, scares the living daylights out of me. Come to think of it, so does Plan “A,” but in a really, really good way!

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Not waking up next to John Brady each morning for the rest of my life—as his wife.

5. What do you want out of life?

A house with a white picket fence, six children and a knight in shining armor.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Family, God and John Brady—not necessarily in that order.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

Do I read? Oh my, I’ve read since I’ve been a little girl, everything from fairy-tales to great literature. I work in a bookstore, but sometimes I think I’d work there for free even if I didn’t get paid. I love romance, especially Pride and Prejudice because Lizzy and I share the same name and, of course, Brady is as stubborn and aloof as Mr. Darcy.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d make myself bolder like Charity and Faith and not so shy.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

Yes, a golden retriever named Blarney. Our neighbors had a litter when I was a little girl, and I fell in love with them because they looked like baby polar bears. My sisters and I begged our parents for a puppy, and we won—yeah!

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

To England to meet Jane Austen because she’s been my favorite author ever since Brady bought me every one of her books when I was fourteen.

And, uh, PLEASE tell me you haven't read book 3 first, Eileen, PLEASE … because this is definitely a series that needs to be read in order to get the TOTAL impact of several big surprises in books 1 and 2. If you have, you have, but, sigh, the experience is SO much better reading 1, 2, 3. 🙂

    Hugs,
    Julie

  7. CHERIE … oh, good, then this is the perfect contest for you! Most of my friends and relatives like A Passion Denied best of all three books, so hopefully it will be worth your time in leaving a comment. Good luck in the contest!

  8. Thanks, AGGIE, for dropping by … you are a new name to me, one I haven't seen before so I don't know if that means you've not read any of the other books in The Daughters of Boston series or not.

At the risk of sounding like a nag, if you do win, I will be happy to send you a signed copy of A Passion Most Pure (book 1) if you are new to this series because as I mentioned MANY times before, this is definitely a series that needs to be read in order to get the greatest impact.

    Good luck!

    Hugs,
    Julie

  9. I've already read these, but gave my copies away to my neighbor, so would like a chance to win. I realized they are 'keepers.' Please enter me. Thanks.

  19. Julie, you signed a postcard for my mom at ACFW! She's read all three of your books and has told me numerous times how she loves your books. Well, it's high time I read one! I hope I win A Passion Denied!

    sherry@sherrykyle.com

  20. I've only read the first book in the series so far…loved it!! 🙂 Looking forward to reading the others in the series and trying to get my mom to read the first book. 😉

    sundaisy920 at gmail dot com

  21. SHERRY … That is so cool that I met your mom!! And THANK YOU for taking the time to leave a comment and enter the contest. BUT … I am BEGGING you … read the books in order, PLEASE!! A Passion Denied is book 3, and you really, really don't want to read it first. I've gotten reviews from people who have and although they loved it, they regretted not reading books 1 and 2 first. Books are expensive, so make the most of mine by reading them in order and getting every single twist and turn I've put in, okay? Good luck in the contest, girl!

    Hugs,
    Julie

  22. ANGIE … good girl, trying to get your mom to read the books — where do I send the check? 🙂

I am actually rereading book 2, A Passion Redeemed, right now and whoa, baby, I forgot how much heat and tension I packed in there! Hope you get the chance to win it.

    Hugs,
    Julie

  35. I know I'm too late for the book giveaway *sigh* but I just wanted to stop by and say what a wonderful interview that was. I loved Lizzie in APD and can hardly wait for "A Hope Undaunted" to see what happened after the "I Do's". I don't know how my family will be able to stand me until Sept. 2010!
    Love Y'all,
    Ashley
