This week I’m hosting Susan Page Davis with Hearts in the Crosshairs and Michelle Sutton with Danger at the Door. If you want to enter the drawing for the book, please leave a comment on one of the post during the week with your email address. I will not enter you without an email address (my way to contact you if you win). If you don’t want to leave an email address, another way you can enter is to email me at margaretdaley@gmail.com. The drawings end Sunday (Oct. 25th) evening.

Interview with the heroine (from Hearts in the Crosshairs by Susan Page Davis): Governor Jillian Goff

1. Jillian Goff, tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I’m the new governor of Maine. Actually, I’m the first female governor the state has ever had, and someone doesn’t like me. I was shot at during the press conference after I took the oath of office on Inauguration Day.

2. Oh, dear. Well, when you’ve not running the state, what do you do for fun?

I love to ski and canoe—anything outdoors, really. Sometimes I feel very claustrophobic in the governor’s mansion.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Telling my mother about the latest attempt on my life. I have excellent people around me to take care of me, but she’s a worrier.

4. What are you afraid of most in life?

Funny, I’m less afraid of whoever’s stalking me than I am of messing up and not doing a good job as governor.

5. What do you want out of life?

I want to serve God in whatever position He gives me. Right now that’s a public position. I want to be the best governor Maine ever had. That will be a real challenge, because we’ve had some great ones. And I hope someday to have another chance at building a family. There’s a certain detective who feels the same way, and when my term is up, I’m sure we’ll be together.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

I want to do what’s right, no matter what.

7. Do you read? If so, what is your favorite type of book to read?

I don’t have as much time to read for pleasure as I would like. And I’ve sworn off suspense books until they catch the guy who’s trying to kill me. Give me a light, sweet romance as a break from all the bills and regulations I have to read.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d have been a better witness to my friends.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

I don’t have one right now, but I’m thinking about bringing a dog into the Blaine House.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

Back to the days when James G. Blaine and his family lived in this fantastic house. From all I’ve read about him, he was quite a man. Either you loved him or you hated him. And he was almost murdered here on the grounds of the house, too. Hmm…maybe we have too much in common.
