Ruth Axtell Morren’s bio:

Ruth Axtell Morren wrote her first story when she was 12—a spy thriller—and knew she wanted to be a writer.

It wasn’t until she surrendered her writing to the Lord that she received her first publishing contract in 2003.

Along the way, she studied comparative literature at Smith College, spent her junior year in Paris, taught English in the Canary Islands and worked in international development in Miami, Florida, where she met her future husband. Since then, Morren and her husband and their three children have spent time on both sides of the Atlantic, in the Netherlands and on the coast of Maine.

She gained her first recognition as a writer when her second manuscript finaled in the Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Contest in 1994. Before they were published, Ruth’s first two novels, Winter Is Past (2003) and Wild Rose (2004) won awards in contests sponsored by the Romance Writers of America.

After publication, Wild Rose was selected as a Booklist Top 10 Christian Novel in 2005.
Both Wild Rose and Lilac Spring have been translated into Dutch and Afrikaans. Winter Is Past is available in Italian.

Ruth is now turning to the Victorian period. Her first title, Hearts in the Highlands (Apr.’08) forms part of the debut line-up of Steeple Hill’s Love Inspired Historicals. Her second LIH, A Man Most Worthy, is out this month, Oct.

She continues writing Regency-era romances. A new series begins with The Making of a Gentleman (Aug.’08), the story of a Newgate fugitive and the woman who sets out to reform him. It will be followed by a sequel in 2009.
