Blurb for Told You Twice

Alexis Murphy is done messing with the wrong kinds of men. She could not be happier planning a personalized Grace Evangeline wedding with her fiancé, Jeffrey, who is so right for her. Or is he? Stage star and spokesmodel, Bo Corrigan, could be the ultimate disruption. Alexis—Exi—is caught by his talent and sexual magnetism. Yet under the glow, she senses trouble, not only danger from Bo’s past mistakes, but something inside tearing him apart. From the moment Bo sees Exi, he knows she’s special, but not only that—she’s real. Unlike the theater scene he’s been immersed in, she sees the man he is and won’t stop until she’s reached inside and brought that person from despair to life … if only they have time. With violent forces against them, can they get beyond the damage to love that heals and restores?

Saving our Lost Youth By Kristen Heitzmann:

Writing Told You Twice was quite an experience. Following Grace and Devin’s humorous and poignant story in Told You So, I imagined black sheep Bo’s tale would be similar in scope. He disagreed. As more and more of his backstory and struggles came out, the plot took some twists I hadn’t seen coming. One of these required I research New York City street kids. Let me just say, that was heartbreaking research. Homeless, hopeless, abused, and addicted kids are prevalent across the nation, and the problem gets worse every day. The war on drugs has little effect when it comes to keeping heroin, meth and other street drugs out of homes, schools, and neighborhoods where we would never suspect a cartel presence. And when children get hooked, the agony throughout the family and community is incomparable. It’s as if their identity has been stolen. The damage of neglect and abuse in the families that are supposed to protect kids lands youth on the street fending for themselves in any way they can. Their anger and vulnerability turn us off. They’re rebellious and dishonest, looking for their next high. With more people dying now from overdose than traffic accidents, it seems a hopeless, helpless situation. But there are organizations like Covenant House, https://www.covenanthouse.org/ committed to restoring these kids, to giving them the unconditional love of a family some have never known, to believing in them, educating them, helping them find their worth—maybe for the first time ever. This is only one part of what Beau encounters in Told You Twice, but I hope my story raises awareness of these vulnerable ones. And I hope you’ll enjoy Bo’s journey from heartthrob icon to, well, you’ll have to read it to see.
